If you are a parent, you know how important it is to have effective toy storage. It’s hard to get the kids to help clean up if there isn’t a specific place to put the toys away. Today I thought I would share this toy shelf/bookcase that we’ve had for a while now in my boys’ bedroom.
Originally, I wanted to use this shelf for the stray LEGO that accumulates. Our family tries to keep our sets separate and stored away when they aren’t being played with, but there are always random pieces that we find scattered around the house that are the bane of my existence! All my kids love LEGO, including my almost-2 year old. But his idea of playing LEGO is often pulling off the lego man’s head and breaking apart the already built creations. I’m fairly positive that anyone with a large amount of LEGO in their household would agree that storage is a struggle!
I thought one of the bottom cubbies on this shelf would be a great place to store our random LEGO, however my husband did not agree. Honestly, I really liked keeping the LEGO here, but my husband was adamant that we leave it in a bin so that the kids could move it to the room they were building in. So my plan got vetoed, unfortunately, but I still think this is a great option for LEGO! Currently we are using the bottom cubbies for stuffed animals and balls. The cubbies are quite spacious and fit a lot of toys!
The top shelves are working great for our Hardy Boys book collection. My mom has been picking up these books for my kids at thrift stores when she spots them!
I am still trying to figure out what I want to put on the wall above this shelf!
You can snag one of these awesome shelves HERE!
Below are a few other storage units that I thought would be great options too!
