Happy Thanksgiving! We hosted my side of the family’s Thanksgiving dinner this weekend, so this weekend has been a whirlwind of tidying the house and turkey dinner cooking. I’m lucky because my husband took care of the turkey, so that gave me a little more time to decorate! When hosting a lot of people, often it’s just easier to use paper plates and napkins. But this year, I thought it would be fun to make an actual table setting—like a real grown up!!! To be completely honest, I didn’t even own a single tablecloth that would fit our table, and I definitely didn’t own any napkins that weren’t disposable! I was so excited to find some budget-friendly items to contribute to my Thanksgiving tablescape.

Our table is a good size, and I added a leaf to it to seat 10 people. I then set up an extra table for all the kids. (Sorry, kids, you didn’t get a fancy table setting!) For the dining table, I ordered this gingham table cloth for a neutral backdrop. It washed up well, and just needed a quick iron.
I also ordered this table runner which cost me only $11! I love burlap for a farmhouse feel! It is also nice and neutral, and I can see myself using this at Christmas and Easter too!
I pulled out my scalloped-edge plates that I’ve had for years. (They were from Princess House, and I’m not sure if they still carry them!) I also found these gorgeous scalloped dinner plates, which I think I love even more than mine! I love the edge—they have a rustic, farmhouse feel to them! I also had these brown glass lunch plates that I set on top (that were also from Princess House years ago). These matching scalloped salad plates would also look lovely!
For napkins, I decided on these hemstitched napkins. I love the neutral color, and I think they have a vintage feel to them! They washed well and ironed out easily. I placed a leaf on top for a fall touch.
My centerpiece was a DIY project that my husband helped me with. I put some mason jar candle holders in the box (mine were from Michael’s a couple years ago) along with some Dollar Tree florals that I had on hand. I grabbed some wood and metal candles sticks from around the house to add to the table also. I love the look of candlelight! (See this post for more about another fall centerpiece I made!)
One day I would love to have a rug under our dining table. I love the idea of an outdoor rug under the table for easier clean up, and I think this taupe area rug would have looked perfect under my Thanksgiving table! Right now I’d probably have to vacuum it 52 times a day though still, so I’ll have to save that thought for a few years down the road!
Did you celebrate Thanksgiving this weekend too, or is your Thanksgiving in November? What do you think of my Thanksgiving tablescape? I’d love to hear your comments!
