On a whim last weekend I decided to switch up the furniture placement in my son’s neutral nursery. But the day after I moved my son’s crib under the window, something crazy happened! There was a small EARTHQUAKE! I have never experienced an earthquake before, and they are VERY uncommon in this part of the country. So that was a bit of a shock (literally)! Waking up to the bed shaking and glass rattling is not something I hope to ever experience again!

Our nursery is overall very gender neutral—there’s really nothing in here that screams BOY. I didn’t know the gender of the baby when I decorated the room, and I really haven’t changed anything up in his room since before he was born. So it was fun to make a few easy changes in here. Just switching the furniture around has a way of making a room feel fresh and new.
(You can see in this post what our nursery looked like BEFORE.)
I swapped out the rug in the nursery for this beautiful ivory and gray rug that I had in another room in my home. Isn’t it beautiful for a nursery? I love it so much in here–I wish I would have put it in here sooner!
The other changes I made, besides moving the crib under the window, were moving the glider chair to another corner, and turning the bookshelf. It really feels much more spacious and open when you walk into the room now. And my favourite part is that I catch my little guy peeking out the window and chattering about whatever he can see when I go in to get him in the mornings!
This simple wood end table is the perfect little side table for our nursery. The end table sits neatly tucked beside the chair, and is the perfect spot for placing a water bottle or books that we’re currently reading. I’m obsessed with the top of this table—it’s solid reclaimed elm wood, and is so beautiful! It was really quite affordable, too!
I also put a few baskets I already had to better use, and am using this large rope basket for stuffed animals, and a round wire basket (this one is similar) for a bunch of my kids’ board books.
The fabric storage bins on the shelf are filled with extra crib sheets and smaller blankets. These bins have a two-toned look which I love! I appreciate that they are fabric so they don’t scratch the shelves when I pull them out to grab something.
Our sound machine sits on top of the shelf near the crib to help sooth my son to sleep and block out other noise. I keep it running non-stop!
The change table sits in the same spot as before, and I’m still loving this little gallery wall above it. The wire basket is the perfect place to hold books, toys, or diapers. We use the hooks to hold extra pacifiers (that is, when we have extra and they aren’t lost!)
What do you guys think of the new furniture placement? I have to say I’m loving it! Lately, I’ve been spending my fair share of time in here in the middle of the night snuggling a sick baby, so I’ve had a good amount of time to decide that the arrangement is to my liking!

Hi Brittany, I’m so sorry about the trouble you are having with my links! There were some changes made to the affiliate group I was working with, so I’ve been working on updating all my links which is a time consuming process. I’ve updated the link to the crib for you! Thanks for the message!
