When we built our house over 3 years ago, we had the space under the stairs finished to create a little play area for the kids. It’s always a hit when all the cousins come over; you are bound to find a few kids tucked away playing in this room! My youngest currently loves the space the most right now. I often find him happily playing independently in this room. Yay for kids entertaining themselves!

Today my daughter and I spent some time tidying their little play space. We have a play kitchen, some pillows and rugs, and a storage shelf with bins (similar to this one) for all the play food and dishes.
Below are a few of my family’s favourite play food that we own and love:
I brought in this little toddler chair that we got for my 1 year old for Christmas, and it fits the space perfectly. I placed a basket (I’ve linked a similar rope basket here) filled with board books beside the chair.
The kids usually have a huge pile of my throw pillows and blankets in here to make the space even more cozy. We have some alphabet decals (similar ones here) on the wall which adds a fun and educational element as well.
Lately, I’ve been thinking of adding a few more features to this space. I’d like to hang some art or photos on the wall, and I’m really considering adding this peel and stick wallpaper to the back wall.
Currently in our play space, we have a brightly-colored alphabet rug and a turquoise shag rug. (I linked similar rugs to ours). I’d love to get a more neutral rug like this one for the space.
Below are a few more of my favourite decor, toys, and storage ideas for a playroom:
Having a little “playhouse” under the stairs has been such a fun use of the space. If any of you have ever installed peel and stick wallpaper, I’d love to hear your tips! Thanks for stopping by to read today!
