Hello, all! I can’t believe it’s already mid-July! I hope you have all been enjoying your summer so far. I’ve been really enjoying not having any must-do activities the last couple of weeks. With school and t-ball over, I’m all about the spontaneous outings like going to the zoo, spray park, outdoor waterpark, or just enjoying our own backyard. I’m pretty sure my kids’ favorite supper lately is hot dogs roasted over the fire, and of course good ol’ smores for dessert! Speaking of campfires…we are taking our kids camping for the first time this weekend. Eeeeek! I’m not gonna lie—I’m feeling slightly apprehensive and stressed out about this whole situation! We are not quite roughing it in a tent, but we’ve booked a tiny log cabin (that sleeps 4…we have a family of 6, including a baby). There is no bathroom or kitchen in the cabin, just sleeping quarters, so this should be an interesting experience. All you campers out there—any tips for me? I seriously have no idea yet what I’m going to pack for food. I know the kids will have a blast—but I’m finding a hard time getting excited about going because it just seems like soooo much work! I think it’ll be fine camping with my older 3 kids, but it’s taking a baby camping I’m a little uncertain about. Okay, that’s enough complaining about the fact that I get to go camping! I’m sure it’ll be fine once the car is packed up and we are actually on our way there.

Today I wanted to show you guys this awesome book I just ordered. It’s called “A Touch of Farmhouse Charm” and it is by Liz Fourez, creator of the blog “Love Goes Wild“.
This book is full of easy DIY projects that all have a farmhouse vibe to them. I’ve been following Liz on Instagram and Pinterest, and I love her book because the photos are so beautiful and inspiring. It’s also a great coffee table book or conversation piece for when company comes over! What I’m loving about this book is how simple the projects look. The instructions are all limited to 1 page, so all the instructions are simple and easy to follow. It’s the perfect book for beginners to DIY projects, like me!
Here are just a few of the fun projects that I’m hoping to do soon. I love these “Easy Drop Cloth Curtains”. This is a no-sew project (sewing isn’t really my forte!) I’ve seen these hung in many beautiful homes on Instagram. All you need is some drop cloths, curtain rings and a curtain rod to achieve this look. I think these curtains would be a pretty great solution if you are looking for inexpensive window coverings.
Here are some 6′ x 9′ drop cloths that look perfect for this project. Two of these drop cloths is cheaper than buying most sets of curtains out there, so it’s win-win!
This “Vintage Map Art” project stood out to me as something I could make to hang on a large bare wall in my office downstairs. I’ve struggled with what to put on the bare wall, and I love the vintage look of this map. You can find vintage maps that you can print for free here, and then you just secure it to a piece of MDF with some spray adhesive.
I used to have a couple oversized clocks in my house, but both ended up getting broken. I’ve been eyeing various DIY clock tutorials in the last few months, and I think this project would be beautiful.
A jigsaw is needed for this clock project. For someone like me who needs a jigsaw for only the occasional DIY project, this one is a great deal!
You can get a clock movement kit here.
I’m loving botanical art lately, and this “Pressed Fern Framed Art” project really jumped out at me. I have a couple of ferns on my front porch, so I have everything I need for this project already. You could also press other leaves or flowers, but I’m loving the ferns! I also love how they look framed in a black frame on a light-colored wall.
Here is a set of 4 black frames that would work perfectly for this project!
