My new vintage-style rug arrived and even my kids are excited about it. As soon as I unrolled it they proceeded to run around on it in circles with delight!
Before I get into my thoughts on the new rug, here is a picture of the old rug. (Don’t mind our messy playroom!)
The old rug was from Target. I bought it on clearance when all the Target stores in Canada were closing (so sad!), and I was quite thrilled with my rug at the time. Now, I’m tiring of the turquoise color and the the bold, geometric pattern. I’m not going to get rid of the rug just yet; I may end up swapping it out for a different space in my home. There was really nothing wrong with the old rug, other than it hadn’t worn as well as I had hoped, and it was difficult to spot clean. I have a rather long-haired cat that occasionally throws up hairballs (yuck!) and inevitably they end up on the carpet.
I knew I wanted a rug that looked vintage or farmhouse style. After much deliberation, I decided upon this grey rug.
I wanted a large area rug, which tend to be rather expensive, so this rug was just right when it came to style, size, and budget. I love the vintage, washed-out look of this rug. It is darker in some areas and lighter in others. I knew this would be the case from the pictures online, and I like that about it.
It’s not super-thick, but lovely and soft on the feet. I did stick a couple IKEA rug pads underneath to make it feel a bit cushier, although that was only because I love extra cozy comfort! It’s huge (I purchased the 8′ x 11′) and the rug says it was made in Turkey (which I think is a good thing?) I’m really pleased with the look and quality of this rug for the price I paid.
