This weekend I decided to break out my handy-woman skills and disassemble my son’s old bed and assemble his new bed (to match his brother’s). I ordered this platform bed in the bronze color, and I absolutely love it! Setting it up may not be the biggest accomplishment for some, but I usually leave these jobs to my husband. But between yard work, his real job, and the kids’ activities, there just hasn’t been time for him to do it. So I had some time today and set to work.

It went pretty smoothly overall…other than the moment when I bumped my daughter’s hand with the bed rail as I was swinging it around to get it out of the room (oops, poor thing!) A few tears and a cupcake band-aid later, things were fine and we finished the job. My 5 year old son (our professional Lego builder in the family) decided to help me set up his bed. He is quite proficient at following instructions and he proceeded to explain to me what I should be doing each step of the way. It was pretty cute, and I was glad to have a helper!
Once the bed was set up and I vacuumed up the dust bunnies, I unrolled the new blue and gray rug I got for the boys’ room. When I bought it it was on sale for such a great deal, I couldn’t pass it up! I love the dark blue/grey color. It goes perfect in the room with the wall color and the duvet covers. I also love that it has a vintage feel to it, as some areas have a washed out worn look to them. You can find my boys’ rug here.
Other than the off-gassing smell, I’m loving it. It seems good quality, was made in Turkey, and is soft on the feet. My cat seems to love it too! He always has to get in the picture!
I’m still considering chalk painting white the nightstand, but for now it does the job. The boys are thrilled with their shared bedroom. I love the look of two matching beds in a room! They’re sooooo cute!!!
