After I dropped my older two kids off at school this morning, I thought I would pop into HomeSense and see if I could find a couple gifts for upcoming birthdays. My 3 year old says, “Mom! I don’t want to go to HomeSense, it’s not our home!” Lol. I convinced him it was a good idea anyway, and we made the trip. It’s always a bit of a challenge taking kids shopping. Or at least a 3 year old shopping. I took a quick peek at the Christmas decorations, and there were some really beautiful vintage-looking silver and gold glass ornaments. Usually our tree is adorned with a random bunch of mismatched ornaments, but this year I’ve thought about trying to coordinate things a bit more. I still plan to use the really special ornaments, but I want to try to make my tree look a little more cohesive this year. I am undecided though what that looks like in my head, so I didn’t buy any. I didn’t actually find anything I was looking for, and came out with a bottle of dry shampoo. Does anyone have any tips for styling a Christmas tree? I need to make a plan!
On another note, when I got home I decided to do a little project I’ve been putting off for a while now. I’ve had the materials to complete the project, but I just never got around to doing it until today. I’m not sure why I didn’t do it sooner, because it literally took me about 5 minutes to complete.

I got the idea from Sarah Joy Blog to frame some old hymns and hang them on the wall. She has done this in her home, and it was an idea I was really inspired by. My church had some old hymnals that they were not using, and I asked if I could have one. I chose some of my favourite hymns and carefully tore them out of the hymnal. I found four 8″ x 10″ float frames at Michaels. If you are unclear what a float frame is, it is simply a frame with two panes of glass. You can place your photo/art between the panes of glass and it stays suspended there—no mat required. All I did was put the page of music in the frame along with a piece of fabric.
You wouldn’t have to use fabric, and could just leave it open to see the wall behind the frame, but I liked the fabric look. I wanted to use burlap fabric, but I had some other fabric on hand that was from Dollarama. I closed up the frame, and voila—that was it! I also found these float frames that are very similar to the ones I used.
Our piano is in a small room in our home that we call “the den”. It’s our piano room/toy room/TV room/library all in one. It’s bit of a tight space, but I wanted to make room for the piano that used to be my Grandma’s in our home. I hung my framed hymn art on the wall above our piano. I’m loving how they turned out!
I love the sense of accomplishment I get from finishing a project that has been waiting to get finished. This was literally the easiest DIY wall art project ever, and I’m really happy with the results. What do you guys think? I’d love to hear your comments below!
