It’s Friday, which means we are gearing up for my son’s first birthday party this weekend! I feel like I literally blinked and he’s turning one. Where did the time go? Maybe it’s because he’s child number four, so we are always busy and time seems to pass more quickly. Having four kids can be challenging, but it’s crazy-fun most of the time! We are planning to keep the party pretty simple. Hot dogs are on the menu, and I’m hoping we can keep everyone outside if the smoke in the air clears up (it has been drifting in from forest fires in the west and the air quality outside has been terrible!) We have pretty much been cooped up inside with the windows closed for the last few days.

Today I want to share with you some random favourite things of mine. First up, are these candles by Magnolia Home. I was so excited when I discovered they were available at Amazon online. If you’re Canadian like me, you know it’s not just a quick trip to Target if you want something from the Magnolia line. These candles are beautiful and smell AMAZING!
I recently purchased this 9 piece gallery wall frame set. I haven’t quite decided on where to put it yet, because I want to use it in three different places! Most likely it will go on the big bare wall in our stairwell. I am so excited about this one because it’s supposed to be really easy to hang. It comes with a paper template that you level and hang on the wall where you want it. It shows you exactly where to put your screws, so you get the perfectly hung gallery wall without have to level and measure every little detail. It sounds pretty fool-proof to me, so I can’t wait to hang it! I have always wanted to do a gallery wall but have been avoiding it because I’m not the best at hanging pictures perfectly. This gallery wall frame set makes it easy for people like me!
Next up is this rug that I have in my entryway. I love it because it’s dark enough to hide the dirt, but still looks beautiful! It’s held up really well for my family so far, and I would totally recommend it. We also have one in ivory in my daughter’s bedroom (see this post) and we love it!
This next one is kind of random, but we bought this Lego lighthouse set for my son for Christmas (he was 4 going on 5 at the time) and he has gotten so much play out of it. He literally can sit for hours at the table building, taking apart, then rebuilding this Lego set. It’s a 3-in-1 Creator set, which means there are 3 different designs he can build. It’s really quite amazing actually that the pieces convert into something so different. It’s a quality toy that looks cute as a decorative accessory on the shelf in the boys’ room too! It was a good buy, and if you are looking for something to entertain your kiddos, this might be a great option!
Next up are these adorable muslin blankets. I bought both of these patterns right before my youngest was born, because they are gender neutral and I love how versatile these blankets are. They are the perfect baby swaddle wraps because they are HUGE, and they are also make great nursing covers, carseat blankets, burp cloths, stroller covers, or photo props! We have a number of photos with our baby wrapped in these blankets, or with baby laying on top of it on the floor for the perfect backdrop. They are also the perfect decorative accessories in the nursery, and they look great rolled up in a basket when waiting for their next use.
I love wooden candle holders, and I’m thinking about snagging a couple of these ones for our master bathroom. I have a few similar candle holders that I use in other areas of my home. They are one of those decorative pieces that can be used in any room of the home, and I “need” a couple more! I love the distressed look of these ones!
And lastly is this bluetooth wireless speaker. I saw one in a cute shop in Kimberley, BC this summer (it wasn’t actually for sale, but was being used to play music in the store) and I fell in love with it. I love the vintage look of it, and the sound was incredible too! It’s on my Birthday/Christmas list this year, but I think it would also make a great gift for my hubby!
That’s it for today! Wish me luck on pulling off my one-year old’s birthday party this weekend!

I have been using Zulily.ca for shopping quite a lot. They don’t allow returns, but their prices are good as well as their postage. I have not been disappointed yet. So far I only buy home decor and I bought 1 top that I was pretty happy with.
Just thought I would let you know.

That’s good to know! Thanks, Pamela! I’ve bought a dress for my daughter from Zulily before but didn’t know they have home decor also. Thanks for the tip! 🙂
