When I think of fall, I think of harvest season on the farm. Growing up on a farm, I remember driving out to the field and taking my dad supper when he was out combining. There would be dust in the air from the combines working overtime and it would make me wheezy and sneezy. I remember spending hours jumping bales with my sisters, challenging each other to see who could jump across the bales that were the furthest apart. I remember picking potatoes in my Grandma’s huge garden, and my mom getting us to help shell countless buckets of peas. The beauty of fall harvest happening in the field and the leaves changing color on the trees will never get old.
Fall also makes me think of cozy throw blankets, flannel sheets, and curling up by the fireplace. I’m not anywhere near being ready to decorate for fall yet, but the evenings here are sure starting to feel like fall. The days are still warm but the evenings are cool, and there is that brisk chill in the air that I can’t say I’ve missed. Fall also means back to work and school, which I’m going to avoid thinking about for at least another week! Actually, that’s completely not true at all because I’ve been thinking about school and how to prepare for the new norm all summer. I have mixed feelings about the kids going back to school and myself being back teaching, but mostly I’m happy for us to be going back. I’m just not ready for summer to end yet!
I did spend some time, however, doing a bit of browsing on Amazon for some fall decor this year. This post that I wrote last year was one of my most popular ones, and I thought it would be fun to do another fall round up from Amazon. Sometimes finding what you are looking for on Amazon can be a bit overwhelming, so I’ve done the searching for you!

I like to decorate with neutral pieces that don’t necessarily scream fall decor, but you could use them year round. I’ll most likely get some pumpkins to dress up the front porch, but I’ll keep those outside rather than inside. I prefer to use colors and textures that work together to read as fall decor. Here’s a list of things I searched for when looking for fall decor, and you could easily look for these kinds of items at any store:
-
Rust colored pillows & throw blankets
-
Plaid or flannel blanket & bedding
-
Gold, brass or copper accents
-
Textured or knit textiles
-
Cognac leather furniture or accents
-
Natural wood furniture or accents
-
Dried flowers and natural twig wreaths
See my pretty vintage art piece on my picture ledge that I found at an antique store a few weeks ago? I’m so excited to incorporate it into my fall decor this year! It has fall trees in it and misty mountains and I think it’s the perfect jumping off piece for my fall decor. Whether or not you are ready to decorate for fall, I hope you enjoyed this post and were able to draw some inspiration from it!
