Hello friends! My kids and I popped into Dollarama the other day to pick up some supplies for my son’s birthday party, and I came across some faux flowers that I actually loved and thought would make a great fall centerpiece! Fall decorating has been on my mind lately, and last week I found some awesome neutral farmhouse fall decor ideas and decided to change things up on my front porch. (Read this post to read more about that!)
Here are the faux flowers I purchased for my fall centerpiece:
I purchased 3 white flower stems ($3.00 each), 1 fall leaf branch ($2.50) and 2 green berry branches ($1.25 each) for my project. I started off by cutting off the bottom of the stem of the white flowers with wire cutters to separate the flowers.
I placed about 5 or 6 of the flowers in some mason jars that I had on hand (I found these vintage coffee jars at an antique shop this summer.) You could also use regular mason jars.
My hubby helped me make this wooden box recently (adapted from this tutorial here). We used a miter saw and my Kreg Jig to build the box. You could also use a brad nailer (this is the one we have) to nail the boards together if you don’t mind nail holes. I stained my box with this wood stain. I knew it would be the perfect container for my centerpiece. I put my jars in the wooden box and then tucked the green berry stems in on either side of the box.
Next, I added the rest of the flowers into the box randomly. I actually liked how it looked with just the white and green at this point but I wanted to fill the box a little more.
I then took the yellow fall leaves and pulled off or cut off the smaller branches, and tucked them in the box all over.
When I made the box, I stenciled the word “MAGNOLIA” on the side of the box. I wanted to give it a little character, and there is about a zero percent chance I will be able travelling to Texas anytime soon to visit Chip & Joanna Gaines’ Magnolia Market! I used my Silhouette Portrait machine to create a vinyl stencil. I love my little silhouette machine! I had been originally looking at the Cameo machine but opted for this smaller version because of the awesome price point! It has worked out perfectly for my needs! I then used my leftover charcoal chalk paint for the letters.
I’m loving how it all came together! What do you guys think of how it turned out? Drop me a comment or a question below! Would love to hear from you!
