Happy New Year! My family rang in the new year by watching the local fireworks. We thought the fireworks started at dusk, so we ended up arriving for them 2 hours early. But it all worked out because we got to enjoy the Christmas light displays without swarms of people around. The kids rolled in the snow and chased the dancing lights projected on the ground—and had blast as kids do of course. We had time to have a quick supper and made it back for the firework show. I don’t remember the last time we had such a great view for fireworks. They were set off the pier on the lake, so basically all along the beach was the perfect view. The show was short but sweet, and the weather was surprisingly good for a winter night.
Today I wanted to share with you my easy gallery wall that I hung in my stairwell a couple weeks ago. I’ve been wondering what to do with the large wall space in our stairway for a while now. With such high ceilings in the stairway, it’s a large space to fill, and this gallery wall frame set was a perfect fit. If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen me share it in my stories. I actually ordered it a couple months ago and the frames have been sitting on the counter in my laundry room. I’m not sure why it took me so long to get to hanging it. It was the easiest project ever, because it comes with a paper wall template that shows you exactly where to put the screws. I hung gallery wall completely on my own, and it was so quick and easy to do. If you would love to hang a gallery wall, but are avoiding actually doing it, for fear of putting too many extra holes in the wall and things not hanging straight—then this set is for you!
All you have to do is tape the paper template to the wall where you want it. I used a level and a tape measure to make sure I hung it straight and centered on the wall. This was nice because you can easily see what the gallery wall will look like without drilling any holes, and you can reposition it to get just the look you desire. I used green painters tape to hang the template.
The set came with screws and anchors, but I opted to just use screws. I didn’t use the screws that came with the set, because we had some other screws that were slightly longer that my husband wanted me to use instead. The template shows you exactly where to put the screws. I took one screw and punched a hole/indent in the wall on each of the 9 marks. Then I took the template down and drilled each of the screws in place. All I had left to do was hang the frames.
I also love that this gallery wall frame set came with 2 sets of black and white decorative prints that you can use in the frames (floral prints and architectural prints). I didn’t have photos printed yet to put in my frames, so I kept the floral prints in the frames and they look great. I’ll switch them out once I get around to printing my pictures. The frames are 12 x 12 matted to 8 x 8.
The frames also come in white, but I opted for black because I’m loving black accents these days. Here are a few other options:
I am so happy with the end result of our gallery wall! I think the paper template is such a genius way to hang a gallery wall. It works great on the large wall in our stairway. I can’t wait to see our family photos in the frames! I have basically a bazillion photos to choose from, so that’s part of my problem for why I haven’t got photos hung yet. I’ll be sure to post a photo when my gallery wall is complete!
