A Pop of Colour for Fall

Howdy, friends! It’s been a while since I’ve sat down to write a blog post. My brain is in full blown teacher mode now so I haven’t had much of a chance to write lately. I’ve gone back to work teaching, after having 2 full years off with my youngest. It’s been an adjustment going back to work, and I’ve been missing the days at home with my kids. Although the days often felt very long, the years really are short as other parents have told me. We’re somewhat getting into the routine of things though again. Once in while I do get a couple hours to myself when my husband offers to put the kids to bed by himself. That’s when I sneak out for a quick trip to Home Sense to see what I can find! The other day I thought I would look for some fall accents for my living room.

I recently painted my living room white. I’m loving the neutral backdrop that allows me to add pops of any colour I desire. Lately, I’ve been drawn to a fall colour palette. I originally thought I might add some mustard yellow to my living room, but when I spotted these rusty brown vases, I thought they would be perfect on my mantel.

The taller vase has black at the bottom, which I also am loving lately. The fall garland adds some softness to the mantel. I used my antique mirror, some old books, a candle, iron candlesticks, and a old green glass jar. It only took me about 72 times to rearrange these items how I like them!

I also picked up the coziest throw blanket (this throw blanket is similar). I found this rusty orange pillow I thought would go perfect with the vases. It reminds me of the colour of our old couch growing up! The pillow is a lovely soft velvety fabric, and I think it’s the perfect touch of colour for fall. I found this similar velvet rust-coloured throw pillow!

This neutral farmhouse style rug has been perfect in our living room. It’s got to be one of my top 5 decor purchases ever! It gives a boho or farmhouse style vibe, and it works with whatever colours I add to the room.
