It was time for a little switcheroo on the mantel, but I’ve been struggling to find an arrangement that I like. I’ve got plenty of accessories kicking around my house that I can pick from, but I just couldn’t find a combination of things that worked for me. I wanted to use all real plants, but I don’t get enough light on this side of the house for most plants I own. I tried a few different items, but it just ended up looking either cluttered or unbalanced. Lately I’ve been craving more of a clean and simplified look. Less stuff—and using only the pieces that I love.
I ended up using a sign I made with the verse from Jeremiah 29:11, a cute pot and faux plant from Ikea, a vase, some old books, some white distressed candleholders and a live plant. I tried putting some faux flowers in the vase, but I didn’t love it, and I felt something was missing.
So when my friend @audrajenn shared on her Instagram feed these cute faux palm leaves from Dollarama, I thought they would be the perfect thing to stick in my vase! They tie in with the other greenery and I love the simplicity of them.
The white vase is a thrift store find that I chalk painted. The white pot and faux plant are both from Ikea. My white candleholders are from HomeSense. The green plastic flower pot is from Dollar Tree.
I also found the cute little faux succulent in the cement pot at Dollarama for $4. Isn’t it cute?!! I also love these adorable succulents!
It always makes me happy to find a great piece of home decor at a dollar store. Sometimes you just have to have a little imagination for what a piece could look like in your home! What’s the best dollar store find you’ve ever come across? I’d love to hear in the comments below!

Can you tell me more about the stone on your fireplace

I believe it is Cultured Stone in Echo Ridge Country Ledgestone. They did a drystack method so you don’t see the mortar between the stones.
