I went through my Christmas decor the other day, and I realized I have a lot of Christmas ornaments for the tree, but not much other Christmas decor. So I decided I wanted to add a couple things to my Christmas decor collection. I was originally planning to go more neutral with my Christmas decor, but I’m really drawn to red this year! It might be partly because our tree is decked out with every color of the rainbow—so I’m just going with it! I don’t think there’s a more Christmasy color than red!

When I saw this Christmas pillow, I knew I had to have it! The white letters are embroidered on, which is a really beautiful detail. I paired it with a plain white Ikea pillow I already had on hand.
It was so fun to style my entry with my new Christmas pillow. I love how festive it looks! My hubby, on the other hand, was less than thrilled with my pillow when I showed it to him last night. He thinks I have WAY too many pillows already. And, he’s probably right…we do always seem to have a lot of pillows kicking around. If the kids would just leave them on the couch, that would help! I prefer to buy pillow covers, because they are easy to swap out and store away in the closet when you aren’t using them. But this is my first Christmas pillow cover I’ve ever bought, and I’m loving it!
The red herringbone throw blanket was the perfect addition to go with my pillow. It has a nice weight to it, and I love the fringe detail on the end!
On the closet door knobs, I hung a little wreath and a Christmas stocking. The “Peace on Earth” tree picture on the wall was a gift from my mom last year. (I think she got it at Michael’s.)
On the other side of my entry way is the console table I painted recently. (You can read all about that project here.) It was fun to just “shop” around my home to find some things that would look cute here. I’ve had this little Christmas tree since I was in college. My sister and I lived in a little basement suite and this was our tree. Isn’t it cute?! I stuck it in a vintage crock that I had on hand, and the kids helped me decorate it with some tiny ornaments I found at Walmart and Dollar Tree.
The books are some of my favourite Christmas books from when I was little. The two on top are Hallmark Christmas books (I don’t think they are in print anymore). They have been taped back together a number of times!
The little houses I bought at Walmart and chalk-painted them white. It was a simple and easy DIY project, and was really inexpensive as far as Christmas decor goes. The red jingle bells were from a door knob hanging ornament that my son broke the other day! I was about the throw them in the garbage, but salvaged the bells because I thought they might look cute somewhere.
On the shelf under the console table, I put a big basket of the kids’ Christmas story books. Being a teacher and having 4 kids of my own—I’ve accumulated quite a few!
Here’s one of my kids’ favourite Christmas books that I bought them last year—it’s so cute!
I hope you find some inspiration in my little Christmas entry way! As I’m sitting at the kitchen table writing this, I can see my colorful entry and it just makes me happy! Thanks for popping by today!
