I’m so excited to share with you today my newly-updated console table that I recently painted. I had been thinking about painting it for a while, because it just seemed so dark in my entry way. It used to be a dark brown colour, and I just wasn’t loving it anymore.
Here’s the BEFORE picture:
I painted it using this chalk paint, and I am loving the difference it made! It really helped brighten things up in my entryway.
And here’s the AFTER picture:
I also updated the pulls on the drawers. The old knobs were a silver oblong shape, and I just didn’t love them. I really wanted something black, but I wanted a more interesting shape than just a simple round knob. The old pulls had a back plate on them, so I ended up with 3 holes that I should have filled before painting, but didn’t. So not wanting to touch up the paint and finishing coat, I was hoping to find something that would cover all the holes. It was a bit more difficult to find something than I expected. I checked Home Depot and Lowe’s and couldn’t find anything that worked in the small area to cover the holes. I was so happy when I came across these ring pulls—they were exactly what I was looking for!
I love the vintage style of my new ring pulls! They cover the holes, and they have a nice matte black finish. I love how the black pops against the white paint.
I decided to switch around the decor in my front entry (for about the 15th time already this month!), and added this sign that I made. Isn’t it cute?! I bought an unfinished wood plaque at Dollarama ($4), and then made a stencil for it using this vinyl cutting machine. Then I just painted over the words and peeled off the vinyl stencil. I’ve had this machine almost a couple years now, and it has worked perfectly for all my random projects. It is more budget friendly than some of the other options out there, which was ultimately how I decided on the Silhouette Portrait.
The grey braided basket I bought at HomeSense for storage of winter toques and mitts, and I love it because it won’t scratch the paint when the kids pull it off the shelf. (These braided baskets are similar.) The metal basket was from Michael’s, and I filled it with old books and the Dollar Tree pumpkins I painted. I also love these metal baskets!
My candlesticks are from Pier 1. I also love these chunky wooden candle holders! The jar candle was my attempt at making my own soy candles using essential oils. I made my own label for it, trying to make it look “professional”!
The blue metal vase was an old one I had from Ikea, and the flowers were from Michael’s.
My little snake plant is looking a little puny, I know, but it was out of an annual planter my mom had this summer, and she dug it up and saved it for me. I’ve been searching for a while for one of these plants, and the only one I could find was over $80 at a greenhouse! There was no way I was paying that, so I’ll just wait for this little guy to grow. They are supposed to be quite low maintenance, and they don’t need a lot of light, so this is perfect for this side of my house.
I’m still loving this grey rug in my entry way. It’s a darker colour so it hides the dirt. With all the snow we’ve had lately and the kids tracking snow and dirt inside, it’s held up well.
My black lantern-style chandelier you can find here.
I’m loving these buffalo plaid pillow covers for fall. They are so versatile, and I’ve been using them all over my home. I love how they look tossed in a seagrass basket (this one is similar to mine!).
What do you guys think of how the console table turned out? I hope I was able to give you some inspiration for your home! Drop me a comment below—I love hearing your feedback!
