Anyone else dreaming of the beach? Since I won’t be travelling across the border anytime soon, I’ll have to settle for beachy decor in the living room. It’s usually around this time of year that my family is either going away or looking forward to some vacation time. We won’t be jetting off for warmer temperatures this year, so I’m bringing the beach to me with my living room decor!
I’ve always loved coastal decor. However, I don’t live near the beach. So in my own home, I try to more subtly add coastal decor. The colors of the beach inspire me—the blue-gray water, soft white clouds in the sky, creamy white sand, and natural driftwood. Here are a few ways that I added a subtle, beachy touch to my decor:
Lots of white and cream
Pillows are an easy way to add beachy decor. These lattice pillow covers I ordered recently and they are SUCH a good find! I love the thick texture and the tassels on the corners! The creamy white knit pillows I use all year round because they are so versatile. I also think my white ceramic lamp goes perfect with my beachy decor. The big white textured pot on my fiddle leaf fig tree also ties in well.
Wall art in coastal colors
I recently purchased this ocean print and had it printed at Costco. I love the colors of this artwork! It’s from Collection Prints, and I basically want to buy all of their prints! The white frame is a 24 x 36″ poster frame from Michaels. My simple white picture ledge allows me to easily switch out my art whenever the mood strikes me (which is often!) I used a mixture of white and wood frames on my picture ledge. Here are a few other beautiful ocean-inspired art prints:
Blue as an accent color
To bring in a hint of blue into my decor to tie in with the wall art, I added some blue pillows. I found my blue striped pillows at HomeSense, but these blue striped pillow covers are very similar! One of my favorite items in my living room is this throw blanket with a hint of blue. I love the weight and texture of it.
A neutral or beachy-blue rug
I’ve had this neutral rug in our living room for a few years now, and it has been one of the best purchases. It goes with ALL my decor, and I love the modern pattern. Neutral rugs work great with any color scheme. I also found some beautiful blue rugs that have a beachy vibe!
Add some greenery
I may be dreaming of towering palm trees, but my new faux fiddle leaf fig will have to do! It’s a 6 footer, and I LOVE it here in the corner of my living room. I think adding greenery to a room brings in the feel of nature and a pop of color. My tree was from Costco, but I found a few other trees that I love too!
Wicker or weathered wood furniture or accents
Our rustic wood coffee table also has a beachy feel. It is made of solid wood and stained in a beautiful greyish-brown color. It’s darker than driftwood, but I think it goes great with my beachy decor. I also think a wicker side table would also be a beautiful accent piece in here!
