I read a blog post on Liz Marie Blog this morning about how she uses layers to create coziness, and I thought I’d give it a shot in my entry! Liz gives some great tips for layering pieces, and although the items I chose were very different than the ones she chose, and I think I incorporated her tips pretty well and it all came together!
I painted the walls a shade of white (Cloud Cover by Benjamin Moore) just a few days ago, and I am LOVING having a neutral backdrop to work with! A while back I painted my console table white using this chalk paint, and it’s fun space to style.
The first thing I did was grab these artificial roses that I ordered recently from Amazon. I am so impressed with how life-like they look! They arrived in a styrofoam box taped all around with packing tape, which seemed a little strange, but it was a very effective shipping method. The roses weren’t squished at all, so I might just keep my styrofoam box to store them in! I ordered mine in the “milk pink” color, but there are many other options available. I love the milk pink because they are mostly white with a touch of pink on the edges.
In the back of my vignette I placed an old chippy window. I had the lavender print in the frame already, so I layered that in front of the window.
I added a couple good-sized crocks on one side, and tried to balance the other side with an old lantern stacked on top of some books.
The wire basket had some old books in it already (and it randomly happened to be sitting in the middle of my living room needing a spot anyway!) so I grabbed that. I love the cozy look old books add to a space. I grabbed a basket of magazines, a pillow and throw blanket, and I was done!
It literally took me about 10 minutes to throw this vignette together. What do you all think? Drop me a comment below, it’s always fun hearing from you!
