First impressions are important, so I really wanted to spruce up my front entry. It was fine how it was, but it was looking rather plain.

The first thing I did was update this vintage wooden coffee table that I found on Kijiji to turn into a bench for my entry. I refinished it with charcoal chalk paint. I started painting it a little before I realized I didn’t take a before picture.
I loved the style of it, with the turned spindle legs, back rail, and the little drawer in the front. I am in love with how it turned out! I’m so glad I was able to see past what it was, because it turned out exactly how I hoped. I used a 2-1/2″ paintbrush and this chalk paint to fix it up. I love chalk paint because you don’t have to sand or prep the wood, other than wipe it down with a cloth. I ended up keeping the vintage handle that was on the drawer, because I actually loved how it looked once the bench was painted.
I threw a striped pillow on it that I found at Home Sense, and one of the buffalo plaid pillows I purchased recently. Above, I hung this sign that I finally finished last week. The frame is finished with this stain. It has been a project I started around Christmas and just never got around to finishing. I love how it turned out! This is probably my favorite bible verse. I remember my Grandma giving my sister and I a little piece of paper with this verse on it years ago, that she had cut out of a magazine or something. We taped it to our bathroom mirror in our little basement suite that we lived in back when we were in college. It’s such great reminder!
I’ve had this rug for a few weeks now, and I can’t say enough good things about it! I wanted something beautiful but something that would help hide the dirt. This rug checked all the boxes, and I’m so happy with it. I went with the 5×7 rug, because it’s nice for when we have company to have lots of space on the rug.
The black hanging chandelier in my entry is on sale right now! It’s probably my favorite light in my home. I love the pattern the seeded glass casts at night. It really makes a statement in my front entry, and it goes great with farmhouse style decor. I’ve gotten so many compliments on this light!
I’ve been debating about painting this console table for a while now. It’s fine, but I just don’t love the color anymore. I’m leaning towards painting it white, and getting some new hardware for it, or possibly black to match my bench. What color do you all think I should paint it? I put these seagrass belly baskets underneath for some additional storage in our entry.
I think this scalloped mirror would be beautiful in my entry way. I still love my round one (from Ikea), but I can’t get over the lovely detail of this mirror! Do you love this mirror as much as I do?

Hi there. Your entry way is beautiful! What colour are your walls?
Valley + Birch says
Thank you so much, Allana! They are Palladian Blue by Benjamin Moore. I would say they read more green than blue though. 🙂

Love the sign! Would you mind sharing the font you used? Your decor is like a picture book.

Thank you so much for your kind comment, Carol! I love the font on the sign too, it’s called “Better Signature”.
